How to Celebrate Earth Day
Earth Day started in 1970 to raise awareness for the environmental movement and appreciate the Earth’s resources. Many people take the opportunity to get involved and take action in protecting and restoring the planet. With the kiddos, it’s an ideal learning opportunity as well as a chance to get out in nature!
First, start by talking to your kids about what Earth Day means and why it’s important to take care of the environment. There are several kid-friendly resources to help them learn about why it’s important to be eco-friendly and what it all means. National Geographic Kids expands on Earth Day in a kid-friendly way here. You can also take a second to explore the website with your child to learn more about whatever else sounds interesting about the world: Animals, history, and science are full of fun facts!

Fuel up with your favorite LivBars and some fresh fruit for a bright and light Earth Day snack. You could even adventure out onto a body of water (like your local lake) with a non motorized watercraft: Think kayak, canoe, or even paddleboard for some interesting family fun!
