The best holiday appetizers utilize those familiar flavors from traditional dishes you know and love. This Loaded Holiday Cranberry Toast will keep on with the tastes that remind you of the holidays in well-balanced bites of cranberry, maple syrup, spices, and Kim & Jake’s Peasant Loaf.
Kim & Jake combine oat, cassava, and sorghum flour with a few more essential elements for a gluten free and paleo bread that we use as a sturdy base for this loaded toast. We add creamy almond butter to the small but hearty slices, then homemade zesty orange cranberry sauce and a crumble of the Lemon Ginger Turmeric LivBar or Raspberry Kale Maca LivBar to finish it off.

This recipe is made with almond butter that's high in essential amino acids which, combined with Kim & Jake’s Peasant Loaf, creates a complete protein to keep you full and satisfied. Those proteins plus monounsaturated fats, vitamins like vitamin E, and calcium elevate the creamy nut butter. For a nut-free version, simply substitute your favorite seed butter!
Similarly to our Quick & Easy Raspberry Superfood Jam, the cranberry sauce is sweetened with maple syrup. They both go great on toast and are also brightened up with lemon. Though there are many ways to make cranberry sauce, this recipe utilizes lemon and orange to bring out a harmonious taste in the Lemon Ginger Turmeric LivBar crumbled on top.
And bonus: Those tiny, tart, bright red berries pack a punch of vitamins and antioxidants. Loaded Holiday Cranberry Toast
Breakfast / Snack
Zest from 1 orange
1/4 tsp cinnamon
3 slices Kim & Jake's Peasant Loaf, cut in halves and toasted
Almond butter, or another nut/seed butter of choice
1 Lemon Ginger Turmeric LivBar, crumbled
Heat a small pot over medium heat and add the cranberries, lemon, orange zest, cinnamon, and maple syrup. Allow that to cook down into a thick sauce. Should take about 5-10 minutes. Remove from the heat to cool.
To assemble the toast, spread the desired amount of nut or seed butter on the toast and top with a generous dollop of the cranberry sauce.
Finish by sprinkling the crumbled LivBar on top & enjoy!
